Chuck Taylor All Stars

Hey guys
I made 2 cakes this week
One of the client wanted a pair of converse shoes, i was overly excited about it !

I thought it wouldnt take much time, but there was so much detailing to do, and i had to make a pair !!

By the time i was done, my feet were aching and i was totally cursing myself for taking this order !
but in the end it was all worth it !!

I think i did a pretty decent job, all things considered !

One of my clients was throwing a party for her nieces and nephews. She told me that the boy want football theme and i was given free reigns to do anything with the girls part, so I came up with a doll theme.

Blackberry Cake

Hi guys !
Sorry, no savory post this week, I've been busy making cakes :D
This is the cake that i made today,
for a guy who is a blackberry addict.
The birthday boy's sister ordered this cake from me !

Check out my Facebook page by Clicking Here

Its a two layered chocolate cake, filled and frosted with chocolate ganache, than covered with fondant
The alphabets on the keys and the side border is made with Royal icing (see recipe below)
Its a very versatile icing that dries with a smooth matte finish.
Any color can be added to this to suit your style !
And yeah, let it air dry, do not, under any circumstances put it in the fridge to dry (as i did the first time i made it a few years back) it becomes a mess when u take it out, all your effort gone to waste.
Just let it air dry.
Ingredients :
2 egg whites
2 cups of powdered sugar
1/4 tsp of cream of tartar (or lime juice or a pinch of salt)
Method :

Before starting make sure your beaters and the bowl are grease free,

wipe them with a little bit of lemon juice or vinegar.

Beat egg white with cream of tartar till foamy
Start adding sugar 1 tbsp at a time till all the sugar is incorporated (Do not add all the sugar at once)

Beat till glossy and stiff peaks form.

This can now be used to decorate cakes, cupcakes or cookies!

Cover it with a cling wrap until ready to use, to prevent drying.

Yea, i know, i somehow missed one line of the dollar sign !:D

Soccer Ball Cake

Hey all !
I know I havent been posting much here. It has been a hectic week.

Made 2 cakes. Very detailed work i tell you!

This cake was made for a Manchester United fan.
I did extensive search to get the hexagons and pentagons right.
But i thoroughly enjoyed making this cake, from baking the layers to decorating it. Took me two days :D

Had to bake the cakes a day before, so that it would be easier to carve the next day.

Covered the whole cake in white fondant and attached the black pentagons.

Made my own black color by mixing all the three primary colors, i dont know how much i added each but i kept adding till i got the color right.
(I'm still waiting for my Wilton's black)

And this was my first experience with making figurines, i was a little skeptic but in end happy with the result.

Here are a few pictures, Enjoy!
There's coconut everywhere so, excuse the mess please
