Chicken Bread

This is my first attempt at making a bread. I've had this recipe for a while in my diary, just couldnt summon up the courage to try it. But today I got downright brave and made chicken bread :D
It looks difficult maybe but its really easy to do !

This recipe makes 1 large and 1 small bread.

So here goes..

Ingredients :
(For the Dough)
Flour : 4 cups
Yeast : 1 tbsp heaped
Sugar : 1 tbsp
Milk : 4 tbsp
Salt : 1/2 tsp
Egg : 1 beaten
Oil : 1/4 cup

(For the Filling)
Butter : 2 tsp
Onion : 1 medium chopped
Flour : 2 tbsp
Milk : 1 1/2 cup
Salt : to taste
Black Pepper : 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala : 1/2 tsp
Chicken : 250 gm boiled and shredded
Green Chilies : 3-4 chopped
Coriander : 1/2 bunch

Method :
(For the Dough)
Dissolve sugar and yeast in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water.

Mix everything and knead into a soft dough.

Leave to rise for 1 hour.

Meanwhile make the filling :

Melt butter and  saute onions till transparent.

Add flour, salt, black pepper and garam masala. cook for 1-2 minutes. Take off heat...

...than add milk. put on very low flame to thicken slightly.

Add shredded chicken, coriander and green chilies.

Mix. Leave to cool.

To assemble the bread :

Roll out the dough in a rough square and cut the sides diagonally with a knife.

Spread the filling in the middle.

 Now do this :D

Transfer on a baking tray (this was the most trickiest part, it got all wobbly :D, so i had to ask mum to help me with this). Brush with a beaten egg. You can sprinkle it with sesame seeds if u like.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degree centigrade of 30-35 minutes

Happy Baking !

Donuts with Dark chocolate glaze

Hey all
I made these donuts 2 months back and fortunately i had enough pictures to make a post. They r a little tricky cuz sometimes the dough just doesnt rise no matter how precise your measurement is, nonetheless they did turn out good on my second attempt !

This recipes makes about 15-16 average sized donuts.

Ingredients :

Flour : 2 cups
Yeast : 1/2 tbsp
Water : 1/4 cup
Milk : 3/4 cup
Butter : 1 tbsp

Method :

Mix together warm water, warm milk and yeast in a bowl, mix till the yeast is dissolved.

Than add butter, Sugar, egg and flour. Mix to form a sticky dough.

Cover with a damp cloth and leave to rise for 1 hour.

Roll the dough on floured surface approx 1/2 inch thick. Cut out the shapes. Put on a floured tray and leave for 30 minutes.

Deep fry on medium fire till light brown on both sides. drain on paper towel.

Now for the glaze:
Chocolate chips : 1/2 cup
Butter : 1 tbsp

Chanay ki Daal ka Halwa

Today is Shab-e-Barat, as we call it here in Pakistan, this night is also know as Laylatun Bara'ah or Laylatun Nisfe min Sha’ban in the Arab world. This is a big night for us Muslims to pray for ourselves and others.
So for today i made chanay ki daal ka halwa. It is time consuming,i agree, but it turns out delicious!

Ingredients :
Chanay ki daal : 1/2 kg
Milk : 1 litre
Ghee : 2 1/2 to 3 cups ( oil wont give that nice flavor)
Sugar : 2 cups (You can adjust according to your taste)
Cardamom : 4-5

Method:

Soak Daal in milk for 4-5 hours. Boil till soft ...

...and blend to a fine paste.

Heat Ghee in a wok ( it may feel like alot of ghee but believe me it isnt, once u put the daal paste in there, it will soak up the ghee), add cardamom seeds. Stir for a minute.

Than add the daal paste. The real work starts now, you have to stir it the whole time to prevent it from sticking...

...Stir ...

...stir till it changes color and stop sticking to the spoon and the wok..

Now add sugar, and cook till the sugar dissolves.

Dish out and garnish with raisins and almonds.

Enjoy!!
